SATAWU would like to inform its members and all PRASA workers in general that the leadership of the union, led by the General Secretary Cde Jack Mazibuko, held a meeting with PRASA CEO Mr Hasham Emraan for the purpose of updates regarding the wage increase implementation.
PRASA has indicated that they intend to immediately implement the 5.5% wage increment with the September 2025 salaries. They further indicated that the backpay will be implemented with the October 2025 salaries and when pressed for details, they stated that the backpay plan will be communicated in October 2025.
It should be noted that SATAWU has since lodged a dispute regarding the wage increase implementation with the CCMA and the matter is set down for the 22nd of September 2025. We accept the current developments with caution, and we do not intend to withdraw our dispute with the CCMA, owing to our experience with PRASA.
We accept and understand the distress and anxiety that has been caused by this situation to our members and all PRASA workers in general, we want to indicate that we will not rest until the agreement is fully implemented and that those who are responsible for this mess are held responsible for their action. The office of the General will be lodging a formal complaint with the of the GCEO.
