SATAWU wage negotiations with ATNS

EWN reports that wage talks between the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) and the Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) will resume on Monday.  Negotiations stalled last Friday, leading the union to accuse the company of disrespecting employees. Workers are calling for a 6.5% salary increase while the ATNS is only offering 4.5%.

SATAWU’s Amanda Tshemese said that should they and the aviaton body fail to reach an agreement, workers wills down tools. “Our members are rejecting this nonsense. If we have to go on strike so, be it. We have already referred the matter to CCMA. There’s money but they are greedy and refusing to pay the real workers who are making billions of rands for this company.”
