SABC writes that The Department of Home Affairs says it will open its offices for an extra two hours for identity document collections. This is in support of the second and final voter registration which will be held this weekend, in preparation for the upcoming elections. However, online voter registrations will remain open until President Cyril Ramaphosa announces the election date.
“On Saturday 3 February and Sunday 4 February 2024, the offices will open for nine hours, from eight o’clock in the morning up until five o’clock in the evening on both days. This is to help citizens collect their IDs. Services to be offered are application and collection of IDs and applications for Temporary Identification Certificates, “says Home Affairs Deputy Minister, Njabulo Nzuza.
