Eskom to finally accomodate 56 dismissed employees

Capricorn FM reports that the 56 employees dismissed at power utility Eskom during the Matimba Power Station contracts renewal will be accommodated in all subcontractors within the power station. This is according to the local official of the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union in Lephalale, Phuti Mahlaba. This follows a meeting between the power utility and SATAWU last week, after the union embarked on a protected strike on the 7th of June to demand re-employment of the workers.

Mahlaba says according to the agreement, the workers will be accommodated according to their qualifications and those without qualifications will be accommodated as general workers. She says although the workers will not be placed where they used to work before, they appreciate the fact that they will still have employment.
